Problem Solving

This week our maths teacher gave us some problems to work on and post it to our blog. Instead of  just writing the answer we have to write and work out how we got the answer. When we post our presentation we have to write the walt for our problem solving. Walt- Solve whole unknown problems using multiplication/Division strategies.

My Problem Sloving

Yesterday my Maths class were doing some Problem Solving about Perimeter. After that we had to choose a problem that we were best solving at, and we had to explain how we solved it on a Google Drawing that Mr Wiseman made for us and we had to post it to our blog. Perimeter means a Distance around the edge of a shape and I've learnt that 100 cm is a meter.

Future Aspirations

Today we heard from three amazing people named Andrew Patterson, Marcus Winter otherwise known as The Sandman and lucky last, but not least Louis Gordon-Latty from Glory League. Marcus Winter started busking in the streets of Otara now he is on big ships preforming there and Louis Gordon plays basketball, but not only that he record's himself playing basketball. The things that stand out for me from them is that Andrew said that when you struggle your brain grows bigger. They Inspired me by keep on finding what I want to do when I grow up like Marcus. When Marcus was growing up he tried new things over and over again, but that didn't seem to help him so he just kept on bouncing back, but nothing happened until he found what he wanted to do with his life. If you want to know more about them look them up on Google or YouTube, but don't stalk them. I really like they're quotes like the one on the picture from Maya Angelou.

My Insturment

Today the year 7 had tech. At tech there are different kinds of groups like music, Hard meterial, Cooking and graphics. I am music and today we had to make a poster of an instrument. Technology In WW1

This afternoon Mr Burt (our principal) came to talk to the team 5 about his grandpa and if technology is good or bad? Mr Burt first was talking about his grandpa, that went to war. When Mr Burt's grandpa saw the first bike, he got one of them too. Most of the boys and men's bought bikes, but the ladies didn't because they wore long dress's and when they would lift their leg up people would see their nickers so yeah.

Next Mr Burt told us if technology is good or bad and he told us the New Zealand army spend heaps of pounds to make weaponary's and big machine to destroy the other country's. Before World War One New Zealand built a big great ship called the dreadnought, Airplanes that had guns on the propeller, Canons & Tanks. When we would build something like those things that I just wrote the Germans would build one too, but a even better one. when Mr Burt had finished he told us what he thinks if the technology is good or bad. This is what I think about the technology. I think it is good technology and bad like using a net book like it is helping you learn and you can hack into people's property, but I wouldn't do that because I am positive. Basketball Drills

Today we did Basketball with Meleck. Meleck is our Basketball coach. Meleck taught us how to dribble, how to shoot and he told us what three double dribble means. So first Meleck first told us how to dribble and protect the ball from the other team at the same time and he said first you have to spread your legs and then bend your knees and after that you get your right arm and pretend that you're holding a shield and then start dribbling.

Next was how to shoot. So first you have stand straight and bend your knees again hold the ball with your hands looking like a double-u and then lift your hands up to your chest and when you’ve done that put your left hand on the side of the ball so it will balance and won’t wobble around, but anyways after that you pop your arms up and flick your flingers, but most importantly you have to flick your fingers. And that’s how you shoot like a Basketball player.

Last, but not least is what double dribble means. There are three ways of double dribble and I am going to tell you starting from now. The first double dribble is when you bounce the ball with both of your hands the second double dribble is when you bounce the ball and then stop bouncing it and then start bouncing it. Lucky last, but not least is the last double dribble and it is when you're bouncing the ball higher then your shoulder and that’s it. Good bye and have a nice day.

Poly Fest Day

Hello everybody as you can see I have wrote three good paragraph's about Poly Fest. Poly Fest was fantastic and next year I want to go there again. I have learnt so much from Polly fest and got sweet as things from there for free isn't that cool. I hope you leave me a comment and thank you for viewing on my blog. Have a nice day.

Yesterday in the morning team five students went to Poly Fest. When we were in the bus I was reading a book and the cool kids were at the back of the bus giggling around with Mr Wiseman and the nice kids were in the front of the bus just talking.

When we have arrived at the Manukau Sport Bowl area ( Which is where the Poly Fest is held at. ) we had to wait until Mrs Tele'a's class, but actually they came before us and was already in the Poly Fest so we  had to wait for them for no reason. By the way when we got in we walked over to this big ASB thing and we had to sit down. When we were sitting down we had a special guest come and it was John Key. It was a big surprise for everybody.

Poly Fest was so cool because we got to go to different station's and every time we go to different station's we sometimes get free stuff. At Poly Fest I learned what is a 3D Printer is. Poly Fest was awesome I hope next year it will be more awesome.

Poly Fest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

Young people and their whanau participate this event because they may want to know how to dance in their culture. Or maybe they want to know how much fun it is to be on stage and to be watched by people.

The things that the performers go through with every time to make sure it looks amazing is:
1. Concentrate
2. Focus
3. Don't waste time
4. make sure to remember the dance every time.
5. Confident

Promote is when other people want to know what to do to know how to know other cultures.

Mrs Tele'a Birthday

Today was Mrs Tele'a Birthday and in the morning we had a little party. Here is a recount I have wrote about and a little movie. I hope you enjoy please leave me a comment. Thank you.

Today is Monday, March 16, 2015. In the street at 8:30 am in the morning the bell rang and all team five students and team five teachers had to go into the street to have assembly. When Mrs Moala was telling us what are the things that we are doing today she told us it was Mrs Tele’a Birthday and she said when Mrs Tele’a comes back from a meeting we straight away start singing Happy Birthday to her. As soon as Mrs Tele’a came back from the meeting we sang Happy Birthday to her and Miss Peato got the two girls that did the mihi to give Mrs Tele’a a small chocolate cake, red wine and a packet of lollies.

After that we finished our assembly and went back to our home class. We had a few minutes at our home class until we had to go to our literacy class when we went to our reading class’s I saw Mrs Tele’a going on youtube and searching for a Samoan music for something, but I didn’t know what she was going to do with the music. All of a sudden I heard a samoan song playing and Boys from the street was shouting chee huuuu!! and I saw Mrs Tele’a dancing and some of the boys dancing too.

All of the year seven and eights students left their work behind and started watching them dance. I saw one girl called Yanquasia, but we call her Quasia for short anyways she wasn’t shy enough to dance for Mrs Tele’a birthday a few minutes she was dancing and the she stopped and Miss Peato came in started dancing and then Mr Wiseman came in and did his cool as moves. Then The party was over and we came back to our work and carried on.

Mrs Tele’a Birthday was so amazing I hope for my one to be like that.

Assembly Award

On week four I got a assembly award because I got caught being good. When I went up and got my certificate and stood on stage I was so nervous, but felt happy I got an award. After assembly my classmates and I sat down on our own chairs and Mr Wiseman said why I got the certificate and this is why I got the certificate I was looking after the class room. Every friday somebody in each class get's a certificate and in our class when somebody get's the certificate they get to take home a monkey Moscow which is like a teddy bear, but it's a monkey and it's name is Maurice. When we take it home we have to take pictures of him and when we come back with him on Monday we have to make a blog post about him in the weekends. Here is a photo of Maurice.
